Ambulance Care

UMCG Ambulancezorg is responsible for ambulance services in the region Drenthe, parts of Friesland and some Islands (Schiermonnikoog, Terschelling and Vlieland).

An ambulance is staffed  by a special trained nurse and an ambulance driver. The nurses have a variety of experience of working in the hospital (e.g.. :ICU, CCU, Emergency department, Operating theatre).
The driver has a background that is very diverse. Few of them have a professional history in health care.

Offer for students:
A day with an ambulance crew gives you the opportunity to get a realistic picture of the possibilities / impossibilities in the ambulance services. Applying methodical work (ABCDE method) and (pre) clinical reasoning, with significantly fewer diagnostic capabilities, are challenging factors!

The environment in which care is provided is very diverse. E.g. :Is the patient is at home, on the street, at work etc .. Is it a trauma / non trauma? Child or adult? One patient or more ?? All medical specialties are applicable!

Conditions:
Are you interested  in a short term internship (one day) please ensure the following:
- You are at least in the 4th year of your degree
- You agree to the document that  is sent to you as soon as your request has been received.
- Due to numerous requests UMCG Ambulance can provide up to 10 requests per (calendar)year.
- Internship is only on weekdays between 08:00 and 17:00. Not during (bank) holidays.
