The medical alumni association Antonius Deusing was founded 25 years ago and is the association for all alumni and master's students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. With 675 members spread at home and abroad, the association's main goal is to encourage contact between alumni and students. The association keeps in touch with its members through newsletters, Facebook and LinkedIn and has an almanac feature on its website.
Activities
The alumni association organizes several activities each year. For example, every year an outdoor day is organized where alumni and students can get to know each other in a relaxed way and every first Saturday of November the annual Antonius Deusing Day takes place. Prizes
Every year, alumni association Antonius Deusing presents the 'Professor Rein Zwierstra Prize' for the 'best Clinical Lesson' and the prize for 'best report Scientific Internship' for master students of medicine at the RUG. The award ceremony will take place at the Antonius Deusing Day. In addition to a cash prize for the first, second and third prize, the first prize winner will receive a medal specially designed for Antonius Deusing.
Buddy system
The buddy system offers medical students the opportunity to get in touch with a doctor or researcher in an approachable way, for example to spend a day with him or her or to ask questions you would not normally have the opportunity to ask. Via this link you can submit an application and indicate which specialty you would like to visit.
Become a member for free?
Master students can become a free member of the alumni association during their studies and thus gain access to a large network of fellow students and specialists throughout the country. After graduation you pay €5 per year for the first two years, after which you switch to the normal membership fee of €45 per year. You can cancel at any time, so you are not stuck with anything.
